Before curating travel experiences for others, I lived abroad for two years, exploring the hidden corners of Europe, the Caribbean and beyond—not as a tourist, but as a traveler with a pen in hand and curiosity in heart. That deep, immersive knowledge now shapes what I offer.

My clientele prefers what is known in the industry as “luxury travel.” The name though can be misleading as the specifics of what you require to make your trip feel luxurious may be quite different from what someone else requires. The trick is in asking the right questions and in knowing the options that exist.

Travel is broadening, enlightening, and educational. It can also be, at times, frustrating, exhausting and filled with mishaps. As a travel writer, I found that one person’s heaven was another person’s nightmare. Not everyone loves long strips of pristine sand fronting turquoise seas. All-inclusive means different things literally everywhere. The goal when traveling is to get an experience that appeals to your sense of adventure, is on your bucket list, and meets your physical capabilities.

Being a travel agent, to me, means helping others experience the world in meaningful, memorable ways. If your travel expert is not asking you the right questions, then why consider spending your money on their recommendations? A good travel agent:

  • Asks you questions to determine what you really want, expect and enjoy.
  • Is experienced in the type of travel you want.
  • Has preferably experienced it firsthand.
  • Has a large network of savvy travelers from which to pull secondhand information.
  • Explains why you should buy travel insurance in the event something goes awry.
The Internet, Google and ChatGPT provide an overwhelming amount of information, yet they don't often help you ask the right questions or provide much substance for your travel plans. Reviews can’t be trusted as most are just the biased expectations of an individual or are written by paid affiliates.
